FAQ’s Homemade Radio Telescope
Are radio telescopes the same as optical telescopes?
Radio telescopes, like optical telescopes, operate on the same principle. Radio telescopes, however, are not comparable to optical telescopes because they assist us in receiving extraterrestrial emissions. Optical telescopes are for viewing far-off objects in space; radio telescopes are used to detect external energies.
The mirror is the most important component in an optical telescope, whereas the antennas are the most important element in a radio telescope.
