Giraffes use thunderous coughs to court their female suitors. The more raucous and insistent the cough, the greater the desire. Of course, the bigger a male is, the larger his throat is, and the deeper and more powerful his resonating coughs.
To female giraffes, those coughs are a real turn-on. It may not seem like “whispering sweet nothings” to us, but for them, it’s a major aphrodisiac.
