It created the iconic opening crawl

Name a more well-known film debut… We’ll wait. The opening credits, which begin with the line “a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away….,” are followed by the Star Wars logo and crawl text. Special effects

You can’t talk about how the film industry was revolutionized by Star Wars without mentioning special effects. George Lucas and his team at Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) created incredibly-detailed models of spaceships, filmed them in innovative ways, and employed carefully planned backdrops to bring Star Wars to life, despite the fact that CGI had not yet been invented. ILM designed all of the robots and major set pieces in the film itself, as well as prominent characters such as Chewbacca and C-3PO.
