A new giraffe has been born at the LA Zoo. But he won’t stay that tiny for long.

Masai giraffes are found in eastern Africa, mostly in Kenya and Tanzania.

When fully grown, giraffes can reach a height of up to 17 feet and weigh around 2,700 pounds. That’s roughly the same weight as your average subcompact automobile.

The Masai giraffe is the heaviest subspecies of giraffe, weighing up to 5 tonnes. They’re also the largest species in their genus, according on the LA Zoo.
