Gareth Edwards directed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which was written by Chris Weitz and Tony Gilroy, with a story by John Knoll and Gary Whitta. It is a prequel to A New Hope and chronicles the efforts of a band of rebels who join forces to steal the plans for the Death Star. Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen, and Forest Whitaker star in the movie that has been dubbed “underrated.”

Despite its poor box-office performance, the film has a following. It was well received by critics and grossed over $1 billion at the box office, making it the second-highest-grossing film of 2016. A prequel series, called Andor, is currently in production for Disney+ with Luna reprising her role as Cassian Andor. Saw Gerrera is back in The 12-episode series, which also features Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, and Fiona Shaw.
